Sneakers. Well everyone that knows me usually knows that I am a sneaker head. It's almost like I'm a local celebrity sometimes because when people see me they usually look down at my feet right away to see what I'm wearing. Many people ask one simple question: "Where did it start?"
Well back when I was a kid it was like a status thing. I mean when you went to school you were about to be clowned if you came in rockin some Pro Wings and please let's not act like I was the only one who wore some Pro Wings. Well we were not a family with a lot of money, so I had to rock whatever my Mother could afford. In third grade my Mother was able to get me a pair of Nike Alpha Force, they were fresh but I would still go back to knock off brand shoes until early 1989! That's when my brother and I went to the Mall to cop some new Air Jordan III's only to arrive on release day of the Air Jordan Black and Red IV's. After I got those I never looked back, it was name brand after name brand Air Jordan V, VI, VII, VIII and so on...
So I would always find my self getting some money and going straight to the Shoe store, Diamond Turfs (Dion Sanders), Shell Toe Adidas, Black Top Reebok Pumps, British Knights (yeah they was hot back in the day), Torsion Adidas, Pennys (Anfernee Hardaway), Grant Hill Filas, man I use to have them all.
It wasn't till I was in the Military when I found out Nike was retroing Air Jordans. So I started actually collecting the Air Jordans and now my collection is fully grown and I have actually cut back a little on them. I bought them mainly because they remind me of a time when I had them previous or a time when we could not afford to have them. And that my friends is my story. |

My all time favorite Air Jordan and why...
I actually have 2, the Air Jordan IV Black and Red should be obvious because they were my first Air Jordan. Secondly the Air Jordan VIII (Aquas) because those were the first pair I purchased with my own money. Them mugs were sooooo fresh I can't wait to the drop later this year, after those I may just retired from collecting JB retros. |
