Greatest rap song ever?

Greatest rap song ever? That is the question and there are plenty of answers out there, after all it's all opinion right? Well that question alone is very broad, I mean can you really pick one? For argument sake let's say you could only pick one song and make your argument based on that one song.

I have to take my pick and go with "The Message" -Grand Master Flash and the Furious Five. Now if you never heard that song before please put that on your to do list and get it done ASAP! Quite frankly is you never heard that song before then you should not claim to know or speak on Rap. In my opinion that song was in the womb of Hip Hop and birthed as Rap. The Message was just that a message, a message to everyone from coast to coast the let it be known that times were hard in the inner city and this new brand of music was going to be a platform to discuss it.

In this one song touched on all subjects and aspects of the inner city and what was REALLY going on and still going on to this day. Poverty, crime, education, police brutality, gossip, sex, drugs, addiction, economy and prison. This song was cleverly put together to not only bring the situation to light, but to inform the youth of the consequences that bad decision making can bring. And this is why I personally choose "The Message" as my pick for greatest rap song ever.

"Don't push me, cause I'm close to the edge
I'm trying not to loose my head
Its like a jungle sometimes, it makes me wonder
How I keep from going under" - The Message Grand Master Flash and Furious Five

Setting the table...

Okay so I have a passion from music... particularly Hip Hop / Rap music. So within this blog I'm going to dig into these two topics because they actually are two separate and often confused topics. I mean anyone that has been around long enough know that Hip Hop is something of its own not to be confused with Rap music. Rap is something anyone can do that has a beat and can put words together and rhyme them. Hip Hop is a culture and a state of mind not every "Rapper" has a place in it. Not every fan understands that there is a difference.

So I'm going to help break it down, help distinguish between what's Hip Hop and what's just Rap. I'm going to point out and I guess "Diss" certain artist and you may or may not agree with me. You may take full blown offense when I say "So & So" is trash. If you disagree with me at any point then please leave a comment, state your case and let us discuss.

The question I have set back now and decide is where to start...
