Hip Hop, I could on and on about how jacked up rap music is these days, and it is jacked up. Today it's all about a beat, lyrics are second. Classic example of that is this new song called "this is why I'm hot" by MIMS. This song is the definition of what's wrong with rap music today. Lyrics sound like they were just made up as the song was being recorded. Guy is talking about what he has and how awesome he is but his lyrics are whack and I'm still trying to figure out what make him special.

Back in the 80's and early 90's Rappers had a message, yeah they wanted you to know they were "hot" but at the same time they had a message that kept you interested. Public Enemy Ice T, KRS One and a few others had a political message. Each CD had a message and when you bought a new one you knew you were going to learn something. Here's a good example of a good line from back in the day: "People hate people for color of face, no one had a choice in their racial place..." -Ice T.

Now I know there are some good new school and good old school rappers, as well as bad. And all of the words I've typed are my opinion and you may have a different one. I am going to post in the right panel my Top 10 and my Worst 10.

Top Ten I'm talking lyric's, message, style. With the Worst Ten, I'm looking at the same. For the most part if their name is on my Worst Ten that don't mean they don't have a good song here and there, but overall if your not saying anything yet think or even claim your the best then chances are you're not and should rethink Hip Hop.
